1. How did you feel this week?
I'm feeling good mentally. Physically, the fatigue is starting to settle in on my body a little big since we're hitting our workouts with a high work volume right now. It's all a part of of the process and I'm embracing the grind and working through it. I know at the end of all of this, I'll be better for it.
2. What drills are you best at right now?
It's hard to say because right now we're putting the drills together piece by piece, focusing on the technical aspects of each portion. Since we haven't put it all together yet for a clean, technical rep, it's hard for me to say which drill I'm best at.
3. What do you think sets you apart from the rest?
My focus and attitude sets me apart. I'm able to completely focus on the things that I need to do to help me accomplish my goals. This focus that I have leads to a lot of success. My attitude accompanies this because no matter what, things aren't always going to go perfectly as planned. However, it's how you look at and approach these situations which either makes them an insurmountable obstacle, or an opportunity from which you can learn, get better, and improve your situation. My positivity and my internal locus of control allows me to adapt and work through things to make the most of any opportunity that is presented to me.
4. What was your favorite meal of the week?
At lunch today, I ate a a pork loin dip with a kale salad and some fruit.
5. What activities do you do to unwind?
I was able to get down to the NFL Experience (a Super Bowl week function) this past weekend in downtown Phoenix. I'm also planning on getting to a Suns game tonight with a friend down here from the Seattle area.
6. What was the "extra" work you put in at the end of the workout?
The extra I really put in is into the recovery. I'm always getting into t he cold plunge or into the Normatex boots after a training session. I also come in for the optional regen(eration) sessions on Wednesday and Saturday to help get my body some extra active recovery. The staff here knows how the human body works a lot more than I do and we're putting in a lot of good, hard work as it is. I don't want to overdo it and overload my body to the point where I am still fatigued when I should be peaking. I feel that my focus on recovery allows me to be ready to dedicate the maximum effort towards getting better in our workouts every day.
7. What was your motivation this week?
"Tough times don't last. Tough people do."
This is something that my high school basketball coach, Coach Jamie Rowe, told me back in the day and it's been a good go-to quote for me ever since.
